What is VTone and how does it work?

There are various factors that contribute to the numerous changes that a woman’s body goes through as they age. These factors can be detrimental for the female pelvic floor which is damaged and weakened over time. This can cause a number of issues such as pelvic floor weakness, stress urinary incontinence, urge incontinence and decreased sexual sensation.

Part of the Empower platform by InMode, VTone is an FDA cleared technology that is highly effective and non-invasive. The treatment can tone and train the muscles of the pelvic floor, providing intravaginal direct muscle stimulation and enabling neuromuscular re-education. This makes it possible to rejuvenate the weakened pelvic floor muscles and treating issues like stress, urge, or mixed incontinence in women.

Benefits of VTone

The VTone treatment is non-invasive and does not require any type of surgical procedure. With the use of electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) and neuromuscular re-education, it strengthens weak pelvic floor muscles. In addition to treating urinary incontinence, it can also improve vaginal tightness, appearance, and sexual function.

Benefits of VTone include:

VTone can be particularly useful for women suffering from postpartum issues as most patients report better sexual sensation, improved bladder control, and reduced bladder leakage.

What are the results of VTone?

VTone is a treatment that can be customized depending on the symptoms, condition and goals of the patient. Our bodies are unique which means that not all patients require the same frequency or intensity of treatment. Women usually report better urinary control with reduced bladder leakage and improved sexual sensation. Results are usually cumulative but the experience and results can vary amongst patients. Maintenance treatments might be required over time to continue benefitting from the advantages of VTone.

What should I expect during a VTone treatment?

The first step before any type of treatment is the consultation. This involves reviewing the medical history of the patient, their concerns and the goals they have in mind. Before the procedure begins, the length of the vaginal canal is carefully measured so that the wand is only inserted as far it need to go, allowing for maximum healing and simultaneously reducing the risk of going further than necessary.

The treatment wand is lubricated to make the entry more comfortable for the patient and is then slowly inserted into the vagina. A small electro stimulator causes muscle contractions, tightening the pelvic floor and vaginal muscles. A tingling sensation might be experienced by patients but VTone is generally a quick and painless procedure.

When the wand is in place, RF energy or muscle stimulation is applied. The deeper layers of tissue in the vaginal walls are targeted with the entire procedure only requiring 20-30 minutes in total.

How many VTone sessions are needed to see results?

The number of sessions required to see results of VTone varies from patient to patient as it depends on the unique feminine wellness concerns of the patient. Although a rough number of how many treatments will be required is calculated during the consultation, fewer or more might be needed.

Two session per week for 4-6 weeks are usually recommended to achieve the best results. The results of VTone are cumulative and most patients experience final results roughly one to two weeks after the last session.

Side effects of VTone

With VTone, there are no surgical incisions as the procedure is non-invasive. There is also no downtime after the treatment and patients can easily return to everyday activities. Some patients report experiencing swelling, redness or sensitivity but these are only temporary and subside within a few days. It is recommended that patients wait 4-7 days before having intercourse to allow for appropriate healing.

VTone is a versatile treatment that can address a variety of feminine wellness concerns. These concerns can affect women of all ages but VTone can be an ideal treatment for the following:
